An Update on Our Sustainability Efforts
At Cabine we put sustainability first because, quite simply, we love our planet. And, as a small business, we are constantly evaluating our processes, materials, and overall effect on the planet as we grow and scale.
Here’s where we are right now:
Materials
Our gold-fill jewelry comes from recycled metal and all of our sterling silver comes from reclaimed sourcing. We recycle all of our metal scrap and waste by having them refined and made into new pieces.
Another benefit of sourcing and using high-quality materials is that they last. Unlike fast-fashion, our jewelry is meant to be worn daily, and to last for many years to come.
Website + Studio
Our website domain is hosted by Green Geeks. Green Geeks is the worlds leading eco-friendly green web hosting provider. More than just “carbon neutral”, Green Geeks gives back to the grid for every amperage removed. They provide three times the power our website consumes in the form of renewable wind energy.
In the studio, we cut down on paper use by using digital alternatives whenever possible. We separate and recycle all office waste into appropriate bins. Additionally, we ask all of our suppliers to use paper alternatives to plastic when they can.
Shipping + Packaging
When it comes to packaging, it’s not just what’s inside that counts. All of our shipping boxes are recyclable, recycled, and/or compostable. We use recycled paper jewelry cards, as well as compostable glassine envelopes instead of plastic. Our shipping inserts are made from recycled cotton t-shirt offcuts - stuff that normally gets thrown away. These cards are tree-free and help keep fashion waste out of our landfills. We also ship our earrings in a cotton reusable pouch which is great for storing your jewelry when not in use. Everything is shipped to you plastic-free.
Our shipping boxes and packing tape comes from EcoEnclose and Noissue. They are recycled, recyclable, and/or compostable. This includes stickers, packing tape, and labels.
